Lincoln has unveiled its new MKC concept at the 2013 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS).

The brand's first-ever small vehicle, which signals its intention to enter the industry's fastest-growing segment, continues Lincoln's design language first seen in the MKZ. The signature split-wing grille integrates the headlamps and sits above a broad horizontal air intake and underbody protection while a large panoramic roof runs along the length of the car.

A sharp character line runs from the headlamps to the signature full-width rear lamps, softening underneath the B-pillar, while the sculpted sides - with frameless windows - are emphasized by another line that creates a concave effect.

Inside, the MKC features – just like the MKZ – a push-button gearshift selector, which has opened up new design possibilities for the center console such as different materials. Leather wraps the door trim uppers, armrests, bolsters, console side rails, instrument panel and cargo area.

The leather-wrapped seats and pillars all feature an embroidered Lincoln Star and crimson stitch accents, while the Lincoln Star motif can also be seen on the floor, designed to complement the lattice design of the speaker mesh, light fixtures and lug-nut covers.

Other details include finishes like appliqués cut from layers of reconstructed natural wood infused with a metallic flake for a glistening effect on the steering wheel, upper instrument panel and door panels.
